Oakland Tsunami Risk maps released

Oakland 2012 Update!

Check out the pair of tsunami inundataion maps for North/West O and East O be-low.

http://www.conservation.ca.gov/cgs/geologic_hazards/Tsunami/Inundation_Maps/Alameda/Pages/Alameda.aspx

You’ll see that parts of 880 in East Oakland, the outer edges of Alameda, most of West Oakland, all of the Emeryville peninsula (old Seibel bldg, Chevy’s) would be flooded somewhat instantly with 11 foot waves.

Any people and buildings near 880 will basically be (french) toast.

If you live in the Alaskan Tsunami zone and this info bothers you, print out the handy maps provided by USGS scientists above and maybe invest in a floating vehicle. (rubber raft) Or a NOAA weather alert radio and a motorcycle.
