CEDA this morning sent out an announcement about a Saturday, March 14th presentation at City Hall to discuss the Housing Element of the city’s General Plan. The “element” contains the city’s current and future housing stock needs, goals and policies, inventory of unused land and resources/constraints. These five-year plans are mandated by state law.
What I’d like to know, is whether City of Oakland will apply for Weatherization and Energy Efficiency grants from Obama’s Recovery Act (stimulus bill) through the State. If so, these should go toward insulating buildings in the city and painting roofs white in order to reduce summer cooling and (to a lesser extent) winter heating bills by 20-30%.
