Oakland’s art scene should put together a bunch of billboard sized oiled dolphins and put them on ClearChannel’s billboards all over 880, 580 and downtown. Also paint them onto the pavement of Oakland’s major roads to “drive” the fucking point home.
For instance, this dead oiled dolphin. She washed up on a Florida beach today covered in 1/4 inch of oil and died after being rescued…

We killed this dolphin. By greed, indifference, laziness.
Driving a car is like driving over animals and people every day. Car kill, not road kill, is the honest description. But here we are getting into a guns vs people kill people debate. A bus still depends on oil to be made and operated. Is BART the answer? It’s better sure, but with an electric train we’re then responsible for “mountaintop removal” and stripping forests to get to coal.
Time to watch Princess Mononoke or some other Ghibli movie again. Anna, lend me your box set!
