Of course, Oakland is hardly alone in this situation. The entire industrialized world is reeling from the impacts of gradually losing its addicting injections of cheap crude oil energy (and therefore “money”) that peak oil depletion represents, with obvious economic consequences.
Oh, and if you didn’t know, Nancy Nadel isn’t running for the District 3 city councilmember position again. The criminal coddler is retiring, which leaves us with who I believe to be the best candidate for West Oakland-Downtown, no matter who else announces their candidacy: Sean Sullivan.
